Please wear appropriate clothes which give you freedom of movement- leggings, tracksuit trousers, t-shirts and shorts are all fine. Please note: if you do wear shorts and they are very baggy or short it is best to wear cycling shorts underneath them. A sports bra is preferable to an underwired bra. Please bring clean socks to wear for your session. Grip socks are preferred, especially if using equipment. These are available to buy at the studio.
Please don’t: wear jeans or clothes with chunky seams, belts, zips or sticky out things on, dangly jewellery, sharp, pointy rings. This is for your comfort and safety, and to protect the equipment which can be easily marked or damaged and is expensive to repair!
Some of our community venues for our mat classes can be chilly in the evenings or during the winter months, so make sure you are wearing warm clothes and/or plenty of layers.
You must inform us at the earliest opportunity if you are, or think you may be, pregnant. Your teacher will discuss your suitability for Pilates to ensure any activity is safe for you and your baby.
We adhere to guidance supplied by Body Control Pilates. They state that Regular clients may continue to exercise throughout the pregnancy as long as there are no contraindications and they have medical permission.
New clients should wait until they are 16 weeks pregnant. Then, with medical permission, they may attend one to one classes, before joining any group classes.
We adapt and modify exercises as appropriate to meet the needs of the client and the different stages of pregnancy.
For one to one, Reformer and studio group sessions in our studio at St Mary’s House all equipment is provided. For our mat classes in both St Mary’s House and other venues please bring a 10-15mm Pilates mat (these are thicker than traditional Yoga mats and a light-medium resistance band, minimum 1.5metres in length. Socks and resistance bands can be purchased from our Studio. And don’t forget your clean socks!
Sorry, not at the moment. We are hoping to introduce an online booking and payment facility for current clients during 2026.
All new clients should contact us first if they are interested in attending a class, to ensure that we have a full understanding of your health concerns and that the class/session you wish to attend is appropriate to your level and need.
We operate a strict 24-hour cancellation policy for private and group apparatus sessions. We reserve the right to charge full payment if you cancel with less than 24 hour’s notice or do not attend your session. Mat classes are not refundable, but if you miss a class you may attend another appropriate level class or one of our end of term/catch-up classes.
St Mary’s House is part of a big complex called St Mary’s Works. The main entrance and car park to St Mary’s House is near the bottom of Duke Street, on the left, just after St Mary’s church and just before the St Crispin’s roundabout.. There is a large Junkyard Market sign on the grass just before the entrance and a red letterbox. By the entrance to the car park is the sign for St Mary’s House and Works, you’ll see Nikki Horner Pilates on there.
Once in the car park, you’ll see the Junkyard Market to your left and St Mary’s House to your right. The entrance to St Mary’s House is through the double-doors underneath the sign.
Beware of just using the postcode or Sat Nav if driving, as it might take you to a different part of the St Mary’s Works complex.
If you are walking to St Mary’s House you will also need to use the entrance accessed via the car park. There is another entrance to the building by the large roundabout, but it is not in use.
There are 8 clearly marked visitor spaces but these are for the entire complex so are often full and we therefore cannot guarantee a parking place will be available. There is a disabled space if you have a Blue Badge.
There is plenty of alternative local parking: pay and display (cash only) on-street parking at Oak St, Golden Dog Lane and St Mary’s Plain. The St Andrew’s multi-storey at the top of Duke Street is 5 minutes walk away.
Bike park: to the left of St Mary’s House door is a metal gate, it won’t be locked in spite of the key pad but it is a bit stiff so might need a shove. There are bike racks in there. Remember to close the gate.
Yes, there is a lift in St Mary’s House, our main studio where we run most of our sessions, and also at The Garage in Norwich, where we run classes on a Tuesday lunchtime. All other classes are on the ground floor of community centres or schools with level access.
